I know it has been overdue, but with much travel and the all-star game, it has been tough and I will be back on time again.
Well, the all-star game was a blast. We won! it was awesome to be part of the team that finally broke the losing streak. The festivities were great and the red carpet parade through Disney was also amazing. It was another great experience for me and my family. Oh by the way, the fact that it was near home made it even sweeter.
The team has continued to play great since the break. I think we are 8 and 4 since then. Now a team high 20 games over 500 and still playing a high emotion and high intensity game day in and day out. It has been great. I really feel we will win the division.
I have been feeling good at the plate, had a little skid there in Atlanta were my body wanted to pull off, but I have been able to correct that and have two decent series after. Not great, but good enough to keep the numbers up
We are now on chapter 15 on our bible studies and getting close to the end of the book, it has been a good book to get us more in tuned with what God wants from us and not what we want from God. Trying to be more like Christ is not easy but you can move closer to that goal if you pursue him on daily basis. Faith night is tonight so please pray that people will take in our message and agree to give their lives to Christ.
Till next time, God Bless. |

Well here we are with about ten days left in June, going in to the month of July and the month were everyone speculated that we would be at the bottom (except us) and I would be the center of all trade rumors. It is quite the opposite, we are in first place playing great ball and possibly looking to add players to strengthen our team. We won 5 out of 9 in the last homestand, and we are now in the state of Florida to take on both teams from this state, they are both really good teams so we have to play good ball this road-trip. I have been feeling really good at the plate and have had success. My approach has felt good and will continue with the same approach throughout the season.
We are also going strong with the book "The Pursuit of Holiness." We are now on chapter 12 and our studies are great especially as we talk and have fellowship with each other.
The world cup has also been really fun to watch, Mexico has just advanced with their loss to Uruguay, it sounds funny but its true, I hope that the US can win tomorrow to advance as well. I will be excited to watch that game tomorrow.
My wife, Chris Young and his wife Liz were able to go to the NBA Finals game 7 in LA and it was a blast, the atmosphere the energy and the experience were one that I will never forget, I had a bit of that in 06' with our playoffs, but hope we can have that this year in the World Series. We need all the support we can get so lets go and follow our team either at the park or on TV.
Till next time, God Bless.

Here we are on May 17th and still atop the National League West, and although it has been brought back to only half a game, we are still right were we need to be.
We have been playing good baseball and feel really good about were we stand as a team. Our pitching has been incredible and our offense has helped enough to have us at the top. We have four very important games coming up which will be key to how we do going into the mid months of the season.
Personally I am recovering from the shoulder stiffness I had a few weeks ago and feel that within a few days I will be swinging the bat really well. I know I am a streaky hitter and I feel one of those good streaks coming up.
Team Bible studies are going really well. We are still on the "Pursuit of Holiness" and really getting deep into having this pursuit on a daily basis and not just on a when we need him basis. It is a great book written by Jerry Bridges.
Well till next time, God Bless.

The season is one series in, we lost 2 out of 3, but we will begin to play better as the season settles down some. I like our team, I feel we have speed, power, pitching, and defense. It is a good well-rounded team. Once we get the adrenaline and emotions down I feel we will start playing the way we can. On a personal note, I feel I got off to a good start, especially after the bad spring I had.
On a different sidenote, I'm sorry we had to cancel the event for April 3rd due to lack of ticket sales, I wish we could have had it, it would have been a lot of fun, but remember that at the end of the day the reason we put on these events is for donation purposes and if we can't donate, then there is no reason for the event.
As for our team bible study, I think we are going to do it on a book called "The Pursuit of Holiness" by Jerry Bridges.
I read it over the off-season and I felt it is a great book to challenge people to always pursue what we are called to be. I hope the rest of the guys on the team will enjoy it as much as I did.
Well till next time, God Bless.

March 15 2010 Journal Entry |
Here we are half way through Spring Training and things are starting to shape up for us. Now as a team we have a bad record at 3 wins and 8 losses, but we do have some good things going for us, like the fact that we have the second most stolen bases in spring, the fact that our starting rotation is all healthy and the bats on offense are starting to come through.
Its always though to judge a team on record alone or even a player on stats early in spring because timing and rhythm are so important and sometimes it takes 2 weeks of in game action to get to where you can start to feel comfortable.
For me, I’m just happy that writers stopped wanting to talk about me getting traded. For the first two weeks of spring I had a new guy everyday with the same question as the last guy, and answering the same question 10 times in 10 days gets old. It does not bother me from a performance standpoint, but I just don’t like answering the same question day in and day out for over a week.
I wished that I could have a recording of my first time answering and just let them hear it the rest of the times. On a different note, April 3rd our foundation the Adrian and Betsy Gonzalez foundation has teamed up with the Padres foundation and the team to have an event to raise funds for various charities, one of them being the infectious disease department at Rady’s Childrens Hospital.
The event should be a blast, we are having it at the western metal supply building at Petco and just imagine every level of the building being something unique and fun. One level a lounge another a game level where you can play games against the players, (for all you band hero lovers, it will be a good time to see the players rock it out with or against you), the presenting act will cap the night out at the roof level.
I am really excited for this event. One thanks that I do have to give out is to B.H. Gold, they are the presenting sponsor and we are really grateful for their participation in the event, but also for their friendship and everything that they do in San Diego, in baseball we use a term to these great individuals, they are great on and off the field. Spiritually things are going well, since the season is close to starting, we are looking and trying to find our bible study theme or book for this year. I always get excited about the season for baseball, but also for the fellowship we get to enjoy with fellow believers in Christ.
Faith night is always fun to look towards, this year it will be in July. Also I wanted to encourage everyone to do your best to get out and make a difference in your community, the Rock Church has started a huge “do something” campaign and since last year they have given numerous hours of community service to the city of San Diego. To find out more go to their website, www.therocksandiego.org. Hope everyone is ready because baseball in San Diego is just around the corner. Till next time it will be in season, God Bless. |
